Why Euro-Lightning® Plus?
The Clearfield® Plus Production System for sunflower in South Africa provides growers a new way of growing sunflowers and will make it easier for them to match superior seed genetics with custom designed weed control in sunflower by combining Clearfield® Plus sunflower hybrids with the broad-spectrum herbicide, Euro-Lightning® Plus.
This new approach allows South African sunflower growers to optimize valuable resources such as labour, fuel and time while maximizing yield potential with clean sunflower fields. The Clearfield® Plus Production System delivers these benefits with a new technology that has global market acceptance.
The herbicide, Euro-Lightning® Plus, from BASF delivers broad-spectrum weed control that completes the Clearfield® Plus Production System for sunflower. It provides the first post-emergent broadleaf and grass control in sunflowers, covering 17 broadleaf and 4 grass species, with the suppression of a further 8 important weed species. Problem weeds in sunflowers such as Large cockle bur (Xanthium strumarium), Tall khaki weed (Tagetes minuta) and Common pigweed (Amaranthus hybridus) are also effectively controlled.
The Clearfield® Plus Production System for sunflower differs from other weed control systems in that the herbicide, Euro-Lightning® Plus, is specifically designed to achieve maximum control of particular weeds that most frequently limit sunflower production. Euro-Lightning® Plus herbicide’s weed control capabilities come from both foliar and residual action, thereby delivering this broad-spectrum weed control with one application.
